You are liable for any damage caused to the vehicle that is not the responsibility of a third party, up to a maximum insurance excess of €2,000.
If a third party is responsible for the damage, the €2,000 excess may still be charged initially for security purposes. Once the third party accepts liability and payment is received, the excess will be refunded.
⚠️ If you are unable to provide sufficient third-party information, the excess will remain your responsibility.
Reducing your excess with DEW
You can reduce your excess from €2,000 to €250 by purchasing DEW (Damage Excess Waiver) cover.
Two options are available:
- 🛡️ Annual DEW cover: €200 per year
- ⏱️ Per-trip DEW cover: €1 per hour, capped at €10 per day
The per-trip option can be added during the booking process, once you qualify.
Important information about DEW
- DEW cover is applied per driver, not per account
- Accounts with multiple drivers must purchase DEW separately for each driver
- ⚠️ Vehicle contents and personal belongings are not covered under DEW or GoCar insurance policies. 🚗
